Is there any negative effects to the guitar if I don't change them often? How often should I change it's strings? I don't play it very often so they are visibly still nice after a long time. I want to still play it but be able to maintain it to keep it a family heirloom for a long time. Fantastic tone and actually stays in tune (unlike my other guitars). I didn't really believed how well these old guitars were built until I played one. My uncle was able to play balls and other concerts because of this and still is plays and composes today. My grandfather saved up and bought this guitar back in the 50s as a present to him when they were dirt poor in Rio de Janeiro.

It is a beautifully rustic 1954 ES 125 Gibson acoustic electric guitar as a gift from my great uncle when my grandfather passed away.
